Doordarshan, AIR, DD Sports are set for live coverage of Tokyo Olympics

Doordarshan, All India Radio and DD Sports are set to broadcast the Tokyo Games live while additional DD channels and AIR will operate with special programs.

The Tokyo Olympics live games will be broadcasted daily by Indian athletics medium DD Sports while other channels of Doordarshan and the All India Radio (AIR) are set to release special programmes on the mega International sporting competition.

“Behold the mega coverage of Olympics 2020, brought to you by Prasar Bharti, through its town network of Doordarshan and All India Radio, and dedicated sports channel DD Sports,” announced the information and broadcasting ministry on Wednesday.

“The range bounds from pre to post- Olympics and is going to be convenient on the public broadcaster’s mediums like television, radio and digital media around the nation,” it added.

“Different sporting events at the Olympics will be broadcast live daily on DD Sports from 5 am to 7 pm,” said the ministry in addition while the details of the same will be available every day on the Twitter handles of DD Sports and AIR Sports.

The ministry also asserted that there will be a four-hour-plus conversation-based talk show featuring sports celebrities on the DD Sports channel as an antecedent to the Tokyo Olympics, participating in the campaign towards “Cheer for India”. The special show will be broadcasted live on the sporting channel from 11 am to 1 pm scheduled for 22 July and 23 July, according to the ministry.

AIR capital stations, the FM Rainbow network, Digital Radio of AIR (DRM) and several other AIR stations will release an introduction programme on the mega event organised in the Japanese capital while they will be transmitted over media like Youtube, DTH and NewsonAir mobile app within the territory of India as stated by the ministry.
