Assam Government announces to felicitate the bronze medalist Boxer Lovlina Borgohain

Lovlina Borgohain, the Indian boxer who won a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is going to be felicitated by the Assam government. Lovlina became only the third boxer to win a medal for India in Olympics.

Olympics bronze medalist, Lovlina Borgohain played her debut Olympics this year. This was nothing less than a dream for her, winning a medal for her country in the Olympics debut. Lovlina is just a 23-year old boxer from Assam.

The Assam government is very happy to see the wonders of this girl (Lovlina Borgohain). Assam Government has also planned a grand felicitation once the bronze medalist arrives in her state. Arrangements have been made in Assam to welcome the girl of their state. After hearing the news of Lovlina winning a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Assam government also announced to give Rs 50 lakh to Lovlina who bring glory to their state. Assam government has organized this grand felicitation on August 12 Thursday as Lovlina is expected to land at Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at 9 am.

Assamese are impatiently waiting for the Olympics bronze medalist boxer. “Lovlina Borgohain is the pride of Assam. She will reach Guwahati on August 12 and the people of Assam will welcome her. The Assam government has organized a felicitation program at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. The people of her native village are waiting to welcome her,” said Jayanta Malla Baruah to Reuters.

The 23-year old becomes the third Indian boxer to win a medal in the Olympic games after MC Mary Kom, six-time world champion, and Vijender Singh. She also told that she will start preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics games after taking some days’ rest. Assam government thinks this felicitation will boost her confidence and will give her short time happiness for her long time hard work.
