On Thursday organizers said that the swimming Olympic qualification in Tokyo has been postponed until may due to Covid restrictions in Japan

The organizers of Tokyo 2020 and swimming’s world governing body FINA said the qualifiers that, “The decision to delay was taken due to number of reasons including sustaining the ongoing efforts in Japan to come out of the current scenario as soon as possible.”

Currently Japan has sealed its borders to foreign non-residents as the country is battling against the third wave of Coronavirus.

Previously initial restrictions of Tokyo had allowed foreign athletes to come for Olympics but it got changed earlier this month.

The deferment of the passing event comes in the midst  of waning public help for the 2020 games, which have already been postpone due to pandemic.
