Olympic medalist and 2 times world champion Agnes Jebet Tirop found dead in her home

2 times world champion Agnes Jebet of Kenya was found in her home with multiple stabs to her abdomen.

The 25-year-old was the star runner for her country Kenya, she won a bronze medal in 2017 and 2019 World Championships in the 10,000m, also won the 2015 World Cross Country Championships. The tragedy occurred in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet county, this was confirmed by the Chairperson of Athletics Kenya which is located in the Nairobi region.

Her reports state that she was found dead in her own house with multiple stabs to her abdomen, as the statement was given by Athletics Kenya reporting that she was found dead at her home which is in Iten, it was reported by them that she was allegedly stabbed by her husband, they are still working on the details of the case and will get o the bottom of it to give their star runner justice. “They also grieved to her death and said “Kenya has lost a jewel who was one of the fastest-rising athletics giants on the international stage, thanks to her eye-catching performances on the track. Just last month, she broke the women-only record in the women’s 10km at Road to Records in Germany, timing 30:01.”

Tirop was able to set the new women’s world record in 10Km in Germany clocking just 30 minutes and 1 second. The long-distance runner also became the second-youngest woman to compete and win in World Cross Country Championships in 2015. Kenya’s Tirop won numerous medals at the international level, including bronze at the 2012 World Junior Championships and the 2014 World Cross Country Championships.
