Odisha to sponsor Indian Hockey team for 10 more years announced CM Naveen Patnaik

Odisha’s CM Naveen Patnaik announced on Tuesday that they will sponsor the national Hockey team for 10 more years beyond 2023.

After the exceptional performances of both the men’s and women’s teams arrived and was welcomed in a traditional way for making the Nation proud. The atmosphere was completely patriotic and the celebrations were at their peak as they passed from Biju Patnaik International Airport to the hotel in which they were staying.

“I believe Odisha and hockey are destined to become synonymous. We will continue our partnership with Hockey India. Odisha will support the Indian hockey teams for 10 more years.” announced Naveen Patnaik at the special ceremony organised for the champion teams of the nation.

Naveen played a crucial and silent role in the development of Indian hockey as he announced Rs 140 crore deal with the National Hockey teams in February 2018 to sponsor the team for 5 years till 2023 when the Indian team was completely in a dark time as they were even suffering to get any sponsorship. With an amazing world-class infrastructure and the global exposure being provided to the team they played exceptional hockey in Tokyo 2020 and grabbed the Bronze Medal after the wait of 41 years while the women’s team also created history by claiming the best finish for them.

Several players were awarded cash awards at an individual level whereas the Chief Minister awarded Rs 50 lakh to the team
