Indian star athlete Neeraj Chopra has decided to withdraw from the upcoming Paavo Nurmi Games 2023, scheduled to take place on June 13 in Finland.
The Paavo Nurmi Games is a renowned Finnish athletics meet held annually in Turku and is classified as a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold event. Neeraj had previously achieved success at the Finland meet, clinching a silver medal with a national record throw of 89.30m. However, due to a muscle strain sustained during training, Neeraj had already announced his absence from the FBK Games in the Netherlands last month.
This setback comes after a previous injury that kept him away from major competitions for around eight months following his victory at the Diamond League 2022 finals in Eugene.
