Now that Bronny James has officially been drafted by the Lakers with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, he’s set to join his father LeBron James in Los Angeles. Having played one season at USC, Bronny will begin his journey with the storied NBA franchise in the City of Angels.
With his Lakers debut looming, fans are eagerly awaiting his first appearance in the purple and gold. Typically, rookies participate in photoshoots and other team events before hitting the Summer League stage. Here’s a look at when we might expect to see Bronny James make his debut in Lakers colors during the upcoming Summer League season.
Is Bronny James playing in Summer League?
Lakers head coach JJ Redick confirmed that both Bronny James and Dalton Knecht will be hitting the courts for Summer League action. James, the highly anticipated newcomer, is slated to make his NBA debut on July 6, when the Lakers take on the Kings as part of the California Classic Summer League in San Francisco.
Following their stint in the California Classic, LA will head to the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas, where they’ll continue to showcase their young talent. During these events, James is expected to get plenty of playing time, potentially logging at least seven games in total. However, whether he suits up for every contest remains uncertain, as the Lakers carefully manage his debut season on the professional stage.
