The Suns became the first team to win 50 games this season after they blew out the Portland Trail Blazers at the Footprint Center, Phoenix. The Suns are the 1 seed in the Western Conference and have the best record in the league at 50-12. The team has their floor general and leader Chris Paul out for 6-8 weeks. They also won this game without Devin Booker who was out due to health and safety protocols.
With Booker being out, the Suns have lost even more of their star power and will find it difficult to win games. The positive is that the Suns are deep at every position and can win games against most of the mediocre teams because of that. But it still hurts the team that they have to go 2 more weeks without Booker.
The Suns dished out a thrashing to the Trail Blazers and won the game 120-90. The Trail Blazers did play without Dame Lillard and Jusuf Nurkic who are out due to injuries. With talents like Anfernee Simons, Josh Hart, and Nassir Little the Blazers could be very dangerous once their superstar is back. They also have cap space to bring in another superstar to pair with Lillard.
The Suns had 6 players in double digits and were led by Cameron Johnson off the bench who had 20 points in the game. The other double-digit scorers for the Suns were Torrey Craig (13 points), Landry Shamet (12 points), Deandre Ayton (18 points and 8 rebounds), and both Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder had 15 points.
The Blazers had 6 players in double digits as well but not a single one scored 15+ points. The highest scorer for the Blazers was the rookie Brandon Williams who had 14 points in 15 minutes. While the Suns have a tough road ahead of them without their superstars, their depth, and great coaching from Monty Williams, the Suns are still in a great place.
