The Brooklyn Nets win to break their 11 game losing streak

The team won at home with Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons on the sidelines while Kyrie couldn’t play due to vaccine mandates.

The Brooklyn Nets and their fans sighed in relief after a win against the Sacramento Kings broke their 11 game losing streak. The team has been struggling for a while now with Kevin Durant injured and Kyrie Irving unable to play home games. Ben Simmons has made his way to Brooklyn but is currently sitting on the bench as his conditioning isn’t up to playing standards. The point guard hasn’t played a single game this season and as a result, is out of shape.

The Nets were led to victory by their new pickup from the James Harden trade, Seth Curry. The shooting guard had 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in the game. The win though came from a team effort with 4 other players with double-digit scoring. The other piece in the Harden trade, Andre Drummond was one of the players with double-digit scoring and had 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in the game. Bruce Brown and LaMarcus Aldridge had 19 points. Brown also had 6 assists and 6 rebounds while Aldridge had 8 rebounds. Rookie Cam Thomas was the 5th player in double digits with 14 points on the night. The rookie has stepped up for the Nets with all their injuries and has scored the ball well over the last few games.

The Kings lost due to mediocre team performance. De’Aaron Fox had a good game with 26 points but did not have any help. The 2 other players with double-digit scoring on the team were rookie Davion Mitchell (12 points) and guard Donte  DiVincenzo (11 points, 8 rebounds) who was acquired from the reigning champions, the Milwaukee Bucks. The most disappointing performance came from big man Domantas Sabonis, for whom the Kings recently traded. Sabonis only had 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. This comes after he had a dominant debut performance ( 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists) against the wizards and helped the Kings win that game.

For the Nets, this is a big break. The team has been struggling to win games even when superstar Kyrie Irving has been on the court. After losing 11 in a row, the team has finally won a game. The future looks good with pieces like Seth Curry and Andre Drummond fitting perfectly into the offence. Once KD comes back and Simmons gets his conditioning good enough to play games, the Nets could be a dangerous team. The only question mark is Kyrie Irving’s ability. If Kyrie does not take the vaccine and mandates do not change, the Nets are going to have a tough time in the playoffs. The Nets need Kyrie to win the championship and just playing away games won’t be enough to win a championship.
