On Sunday night, Terry Rozier had a tremendous jump-ball win and two late free throws to help the Charlotte Hornets end the Golden State Warriors’ seven-game winning streak, 106-102. With 17 seconds left, Draymond Green locked up Rozier at midcourt, forcing a jump ball. The Hornets controlled the jump after the 6-foot-1 Rozier outleaped the 6-foot-6 Green, bringing the audience to their feet.
Rozier was forced to foul and hit both free throws with 12.7 seconds left to make it a two-possession game. Golden State’s final two shots were both missed. Miles Bridges had 22, LaMelo Ball had 21, and Cody Martin had 12 points and eight rebounds. Rozier scored 20 points, Bridges had 22, and Martin had 12 points and eight rebounds. The Hornets have now won 3 straight games after being in the mud for 5 games.
In his annual homecoming game, Golden State’s Andrew Wiggins scored 28 points and Stephen Curry added 24 points and 10 assists. The Warriors fell to 11-2 after an eight-game homestand. It is games like these where their 2nd star Klay Thompson will come in handy, Curry after dropping 42 in the last game, struggled tonight in the first half, with Klay’s presence and his gravity on the three-point line will clear some space Curry and other players like Jordan Poole and will allow more open looks and his defensive prowess can shut many players.
