The Philadelphia 76ers showed the basketball world that they are the real deal. With both their superstars, Joel Embiid and James Harden not playing, the 76ers went toe to toe with the 1 seeded Miami Heat and won against them. They were led to victory by their young guard, Tyrese Maxey who has stepped up this season ever since the Ben Simmons drama began.
The young star had 28 points and a clutch chase-down block at the end of the game to seal the deal for the 76ers. He had help from his teammates as well. The 76ers had 4 other players that scored in double digits. Shake Milton was the second-highest scorer for the 76ers with 20 points. Tobias Harris had 14 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds, Georges Niang had 15 points and Furkan Korkmaz had 18 points and 6 rebounds.
The game was a statement game for the 76ers as they beat out a top team like the Miami Heat. The team showed the culture and grit that they have and hold on till the end to win the game. A lot of credit goes to Doc Rivers as well for helping the team navigate the Ben Simmons drama and keep them competitive all season.
The Heat had 3 players who had 20+ points against the 76ers. Jimmy Butler (27 points), Bam Adebayo (22 points and 9 rebounds), and Kyle Lowry (20 points) had really good games but it wasn’t enough ultimately. Tyler Herro who has been a scoring machine for the Heat this season only had 10 points in the game.
The Philadelphia 76ers have established themselves as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and the NBA right now. If there was any doubt before there shouldn’t be any doubts now. With James Harden and Joel Embiid being the superstars they are capable of being, the production from other players like Tyrese Maxey makes this team very dangerous in the Playoffs.
