NBA: Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving refuses to talk to the media; both player and organization fined

Kyrie Irving earlier this week posted a story on his Instagram account, stating that he would not be talking to the media this season.

Players and general managers of the NBA are expected to talk to the media and answer questions whenever a training camp starts. Irving refused talking to the media or the media reporters several times since the camp started on December 1.

As a result, both Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets have received a fine of 25 thousand dollars each for failing to observe the league’s media rules.

The NBA in a statement regarding the fine said, “The fines result from Irving’s refusal on several occasions this week to participate in the team media availability.”
