On Wednesday, the Miami Heat defeated the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 112-98, giving Jimmy Butler 27 points, Bam Adebayo 23 points, and 14 rebounds. This was the Los Angeles Lakers fifth loss in the previous six games.
Butler and Adebayo, who both missed Miami’s victory over Minnesota on Monday due to injury or sickness, both made their respective lineups on Tuesday and shot a combined 21-of-34 from the field. Despite making none of his four 3-point attempts, Butler completed the game 11 of 18, while Adebayo shot 10 of 16.
All five Heat starters reached double digits in scoring thanks to their efforts, joining Tyler Herro (18 points), Caleb Martin (13 points), and Gabe Vincent (12 points). Miami had the advantage throughout the majority of the game, and in the third quarter, it reached a maximum of 22 points.
The Heat struggled with poor overall 3-point shooting for the second time in as many games (31.4 per cent). The rest of the Miami lineup shot just 5 of 24 from beyond the arc, with Herro going 3 of 7 and Martin going 3 of 4. But the Heat made up for it with a smothering defence that led to 24 turnovers from Los Angeles. Victor Oladipo had three steals, while Butler had five steals overall to lead the defence. Vincent and Herro both provided two.
