He also had a game-high in assists along with Steph Curry.
The Mavericks never trailed in the game and the Warriors only managed to tie the game up twice in 48 minutes. The Warriors were led by Steph Curry’s 21 points and 9 assists. Jordan Poole was the highest scorer for the team with 23 points. With the loss, the Warriors have lost 6 out of 8 games. The absence of Draymond Green has hurt them the past few weeks.
The Mavericks had 5 players other than Luka that scored in double digits. Jalen Brunson – 14 points, Spencer Dinwiddie – 17 points and 7 assists, Dorian Finney-Smith – 18 points, Reggie Bullock – 14 points, and Dwight Powell – 13 points and 8 rebounds. The Warriors had 3 players in double digits excluding Steph and Poole. Andrew Wiggins – 17 points, Klay Thompson – 16 points, and Moses Moody – 13 points.
The Warriors have now lost 3 in a row with two of those losses against the Mavericks. The absence of Draymond has hurt them and they cannot come out of the West without him. They will also need Wiseman for some size in the paint to go against Centers like Deandre Ayton and Steven Adams on the boards.
The Mavericks look like a legitimate contender and have been playing great after Christmas. They have gone all-in on surrounding Luka with pieces and are using a small lineup with a lot of shooting. They are just a superstar away from making it to the NBA Finals and have a great Head coach in Jason Kidd. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Mavericks.
