On Friday night, LeBron James added another accomplishment to his apparently never-ending list of successes thanks to his consistent, enduring greatness. The four-time MVP and NBA champion recorded his 1,135th game with at least 20 points in his career against the Timberwolves, passing Karl Malone for the most such performances in league history.
The Los Angeles Lakers have now lost five games in a row this year after their 111-102 loss on Friday. Although Lebron James’ 28 points were insufficient to win the game, they were sufficient to set an NBA record for the number of regular-season games with 20 points played in a career. Anthony Edwards scored 16 of his 29 points in the third quarter, Rudy Gobert added 22 points and 21 rebounds, and Minnesota defeated Los Angeles for the sixth time in a row to start the season. In addition to his recent 20-point performance and impending overtake of Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, James is also among the all-time leaders in minutes (3rd), assists (7th), and steals (10th).
Congrats to @KingJames of the @Lakers for moving up to FIRST on the All-Time 20-POINT GAMES list! pic.twitter.com/wQMbwbSYAr
