LeBron James came home to Cleveland today and put on a show. The King had a 38 point triple-double to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to victory against a very good Cleveland Cavaliers team. The Lakers won by 11 points and the final score was 131-120. It was a great homecoming for the King and the win was the cherry on top.
The Lakers as a team played great today. Russell Westbrook had another 20 point double-double and facilitated with 11 assists. There were 4 other Lakers players in double digits other than LeBron and Westbrook. Austin Reaves had 11 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds, D.J. Augustin had 20 points while Malik Monk and Stanley Johnson had 12 points each.
The win was much needed for the Lakers as they were able to move back up to the 9 seed after the win. While LeBron James has played incredibly well the Lakers have struggled to win games throughout the season. Throw in the wrench that is an injured Anthony Davis and it was almost hopeless for the Lakers. While they still do not seem to be a championship contender, the Lakers have begun to find their groove.
Russell Westbrook has played exceptionally well over the last 3 games. It seems that Frank Vogel has found how to use the former MVP effectively in the Lakers system. Lebron has been the only constant for the Lakers and has managed to keep them afloat with his great play throughout the season.
There was a moment when LeBron dunked over his former teammate Kevin Love. The 2 shared a friendly moment later and LeBron even joked in his press conference that he hoped he was still invited to Kevin Love’s wedding. With how great LeBron is playing and Russell Westbrook finally playing good basketball, it will be exciting to see how the Lakers look once Anthony Davis is back.
