Kyrie Irving continues to suffer due to unfair Vaccine Mandates

With vaccine mandates enforced in New York City, NBA superstars have come out and spoken against the mandates that do not allow Kyrie to play in New York.

Kyrie Irving has been unable to play in-home games for the Brooklyn Nets since the season started. The reason has been New York City’s vaccine mandates that do not allow unvaccinated players to play in the city. Let me correct that, the rule states that players for New york-based teams cannot play at home but unvaccinated players from other teams can.

I have never heard of the law so absurd in my life. Either no unvaccinated player plays or everyone plays. This seems like a law that has been made to especially restrict Kyrie from playing home games. The even crazier part is that unvaccinated fans can enter the arena as well. While Kyrie’s stance on the vaccine might not be the right one it is unfair to treat him differently from other players in the league.

Since Kyrie is unable to play in games at home or even be a part of the bench, he has now entered Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn as a fan a couple of times. Kyrie attended the Duke game ( his alma-mater) sitting in courtside seats and even showed support to the Nets team today by sitting courtside and even without a mask.

After the game he even dapped up Kevin Durant who had an amazing 53 points and 9 assist performance against the Knicks to lead the Nets to victory. He also went with the team into the locker room as well. If Kyrie can interact with teammates and players physically sitting courtside, what is the issue with him playing in games. It is criminal to have a showstopping superstar like Kyrie Irving sit out because of a senseless law that politicians established.

When asked about the situation, his teammate Kevin Durant had some very strong opinions on why Kyrie was being forced to sit out f home games. ” I don’t understand it at all,” Durant said in his postgame interview,” It just feels like, at this point now, someone is trying to make a statement or point to flex their authority”.

Durant addressed the New York City Mayor Eric Adams by his first name and asked to resolve the issue. Kyrie’s former teammate LeBron James also took to Twitter to share how senseless the law was.
