Kevin Durant is one the greatest players we have ever seen. In fact, some might argue that he is the greatest talent we have ever seen in the NBA. He is an offensive juggernaut and can use his length and wingspan on the defensive end as well. Kevin Durant is also a former MVP of the NBA. Who better to decide the MVP this season than him.
In his postgame press conference, Durant was asked who he thought the MVP was this season. Durant said that his top 3 were Joel Embiid, DeMar DeRozan and Ja Morant. He also added Nikola Jokic, who is a frontrunner for the award right now to the mix but put him at number 4. Durant then said,’ And I’ll probably go, Joel. It’s, I mean Jokic, you could throw Jokic in there, but I’ll probably go Joel. I mean there are so many players playing at a high-level man, so like I said the other day, the league’s in a great place.”.
"Joel Embiid, DeMar DeRozan, Ja Morant for me, those are my top three [for MVP] and I'll probably go Joel. Jokic, you can throw throw Jokic in there. But I'll probably go Joel."

Kevin Durant himself lead the MVP race this season until he got injured. He was averaging around 29 points when he injured himself and was leading the race for the scoring title as well. Despite continuing to put up MVP numbers and averaging 29.4 points,7.2 rebounds and 6 assists, Kevin Durant is no longer a part of the MVP conversation because of the number of games he missed.
When asked if he was frustrated about not being a part of that conversation Durant said that he wasn’t. He said he knew what level of player he was and that an MVP did not define him as a player. Durant was coming off a great comeback game against the Portland Trail Blazers and had scored 38 points. He also had 6 rebounds and 6 assists in addition to that. Hopefully, there is a Finals MVP in Durant’s future. The only way he gets it though is if Kyrie Irving is available to full time.
Is KD frustrated he won't win MVP cause of his knee injury?
"No it's not frustrating. I've experienced what it's like to win MVP and that doesn't validate me as a hum- player…. It's always great to get some…some hometown love… but I understand the type of player that I am." pic.twitter.com/kRwOFWTzDw— DaveEarly (@DavidEarly) March 19, 2022
