Nikola Jokic is one of the most versatile Centers that this league has ever seen. The reigning MVP is doing it all for the Denver Nuggets. He is averaging 26 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 8.1 assists this season and is a frontrunner for the MVP once again. The Joker just passed the 10000 career points mark against the Washington Wizards today. He had 29 points in the game along with 13 rebounds and 8 assists.
With the accomplishment, Jokic becomes the 4th Nugget with more than 10000 points as a Nugget. He is only behind Carmelo Anthony, Dan Issel, and Alex English on the all-time scoring list for the Nuggets. The Center is playing some great basketball with his partners in crime, Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. out. He could eventually go down as the greatest Nugget of all time.
The Center has been carrying his team for the past 2 years on his back. He has led them to the playoffs every year and is on pace to do so again. Jokic makes a case for the MVP especially because of the huge load he has carried all season. He has kept the Nuggets competitive throughout the season and led them to the 6 seed in the Western Conference.
With Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. rumored to be back by the Playoffs, the Denver Nuggets are an extremely dangerous team in the postseason. While it will take Murray and Porter Jr. time to adapt after being out for so long, the team’s future looks bright. The team is really young and has a great core in Jokic, Murray, and Porter Jr. in place to win a championship.
While Nikola Jokic has yet to take his place on the top as an All-time great Denver Nugget, he isn’t too far off. The Big Man has won an MVP award and might just win another one again. He is the only Denver Nugget to ever win the award. If Jokic brings a championship to Denver his legacy will be cemented as the greatest Denver Nugget of all time.
