The Houston Rockets travelled to Phoenix to face the Suns in an attempt to win their first game of the season. The Suns have Chris Paul in their lineup to partner the always deadly Devin Booker after their recent season’s run that nearly led them to a title. He scored 27 points tonight against a Rockets team that couldn’t react quickly enough.
The visitors appeared to re-enter the game in the second quarter, with key contributions from Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green. The Suns were only five points ahead at the end of the second quarter. The Rockets’ hopes were still alive, but Devin Booker arrived at the Talking Stick Resort Arena this evening. Throughout the second half, he dominated every element of the game. With Booker on a tear, Chris Paul wanted to make an impression that would help the Suns preserve their lead in the second half. He sent up 13 assists, widening the margin between the two teams to the point where there was no space for doubt. Phoenix began to ball until the advantage became too large to ignore. Against more talented teams like the Suns, Houston still needs to learn from their rookie blunders.

The Rockets will have a stiff battle in the NBA on Saturday when they visit the Denver Nuggets early in the afternoon. The Suns are back at home, but this time they won’t have such an easy opponent when the Atlanta Hawks come to town. Devin Booker continues to develop into one of the league’s finest players, but not without veteran Chris Paul’s constant assistance.
