After delivering a cheap shot on Markieff Morris in the dying minutes of the game, reigning MVP Nikola Jokic was disqualified from the Denver Nuggets’ win against the Miami Heat on Monday night. Morris, who was also removed from the competition, was initially carried onto the floor on a stretcher, but he was able to walk out on his own. Morris was charged with a flagrant foul 2, while Jokic was dismissed for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
With less than two minutes remaining, Jokic had a rebound and was moving the ball up the floor when Morris slammed into him from behind. Morris moved away after the refs blew the whistle for a foul. Jokic, enraged, chased him down and deliriously attacked him. A furious Jokic came after him and delivered a shoulder into Morris’ back, which sent him sprawling.

For the game, Nuggets dominated the whole time, Heats who have been on a great run since the addition of Lowry and PJ Tucker, had little to no contribution, Lowry had an embarrassing game and could not even get himself on the scoring table as he had 0 points, Jimmy Butler did all he could as he posted 31 points and 8 assists, while the Nuggets took a 64-49 advantage into halftime, thanks to Jokic, Barton, and Morris, who were all in double figures by the break. The MVP Jokic posted a triple-double of 25 points, 15 boards, and 10 assists on a very efficient 71% shooting.
