Chess legend Magnus Carlsen is now planning to host an online chess tournament in India. His ability to play the game efficiently has now transferred to mega business dealings. India has a rapidly growing digital chess community and thus the Norwegian Chess Grandmaster has spotted the rise- hosting a tournament with prize money worth 200,000 dollars.
The tournament is set to be hosted by online platform chess24, obtained by Carlsen’s company Play Magnus AS in 2019. If everything goes to plan, it will be the biggest-ever online chess event focused around the country.
The tournament would be set up perfectly- inviting the best Indian players, live commentary (both English and Hindi) whilst being broadcasted on YouTube.
The tournament will be looking to welcome a number of viewers, considering the growth of online Chess’ popularity in India.
