Lionel Messi’s former teammate and close friend Luis Suarez has explained that the Argentine is more focused on his family and life off the pitch than his football.
Luis Suarez left FC Barcelona in the summer over tensions between the player and the club which saw the Uruguain join rivals Atletico Madrid. Suarez believes that Lionel Messi is not worried about his situation at Barcelona as both pals prefer to discuss family life over football. “We speak a lot but honestly when we speak it’s about our lives. We’ve both had children’s birthdays recently, we talk about life, the virus and everything else but very little about football. We’re more concerned with how our families are than what happens in football”, said the 33-year-old.
A six year spell with the Catalan giants saw both their families grow very close with each other as the players flourished their relationship on the pitch as well. Suarez continues to be hurt with how his former club treated him, however he says he has found a place that wanted him and is very happy with his current situation. “I was sad and hurt by the way I left, which I have already said. I feel proud. When I wasn’t wanted, I found somewhere I was. I’ve found happiness and I’m enjoying this period.”
Luis Suarez has hit the ground running at his new club and has found himself develop a good relationship with his new teammates.
