Liverpool agree fee for sale of attacking midfielder

Liverpool has reached an agreement to transfer attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho to Brentford in a deal that could be worth up to £27.5 million ($35 million) with add-ons included.

This move is quite profitable for Liverpool, as they originally bought Carvalho from Fulham for £7 million ($8.9 million) in 2022. The deal includes a 17.5% sell-on clause, which means Liverpool will get a share of any future profits if Brentford sells Carvalho later on.

Fulham, Carvalho’s former club, also benefits from this transfer. They will receive 20% of Liverpool’s profit beyond £5 million ($6.3 million). So, if Liverpool gets the full £27.5 million ($35 million), Fulham would earn about £3.1 million.

Carvalho, who had a hard time securing a regular spot in Liverpool’s squad, is expected to play a significant role at Brentford. This move should be beneficial for all involved: Carvalho will get more playing time, Liverpool makes a substantial profit, and Fulham sees a return on their previous investment.

The transfer has been confirmed by credible sources, including journalist Paul Joyce, who supported initial reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola. Carvalho’s exit from Anfield wraps up a short chapter in his career with Liverpool but opens new opportunities for him at Brentford, a club noted for nurturing young talent.
