
India’s Cadet (Under-18) recurve archers have won gold medals in the World Youth Championships, being held in Wroclaw, Poland. On Sunday, both the men’s and the mixed team won the medals.
Top-seeded archers, Bismal Changmai, Vickey Ruhal and Amit Kumar won the U18 men’s team recurve final, by defeating France 5-3. It was a tight final, but the Indian team came out trumps, in the end.
Tamnna, along with Changmai, won the mixed team category final, by defeating Japan in a very comfortable fashion. The score was 6-2, in favour of the Indian team. That was the second gold medal of the day for the Indian contingent.
The women’s U-18 team won the bronze medal, as the team of Manjiri Alone, Tamnna and Avani defeated Germany 5-3 in the finals. This was the first medal match the Indian team competed in today.
Manjiri Alone, also, won her bronze medal of the day, by defeating Dutch archer, Quinty Roeffen.
Bismal Changmai, too, won his third medal, by defeating Dauletkeldi Zhangbyrbay, for his bronze medal, in the individual men’s event.
Earlier, the U18 Indian Cadet team archers won medals in the compound events too. The U18 men’s, women’s and mixed teams have won gold medals in the various compound categories. The team of Priya Gurjar, Ridhu Senthilkumar and Parneet Kaur won the women’s team event, while the men’s team of Kusha Dalal, Sahil Chaudhary and Nitin Apar won theirs, by upsetting the favourites the USA. The mixed team of Dalal and Gurjar won their event too. Parneet Kaur won bronze, while Priya Gurjar won silver in the individual event. Rishabh Yadav won bronze in Compound Junior Men’s category, while Sakshi Chaudhary won bronze in the Women’s Junior Compound event.
