Indian women’s team win gold at ISSF shooting Junior World Championship, men bring bronze

Areeba Khan, Raiza Dhillion, and Ganemat Sekhon finished at the top of the podium in the women’s event after shooting an aggregate score of 6-0. On Friday in the gold medal round the Indians, women were facing the Italian team comprising Damiana Paolacci, Sara Bongini, and Giada Longhi. Sekhon had also won the silver medal earlier in the individual women’s skeet competition. The Chandigarh shooter picked up her first ISSF medal earlier this year in new Dehli in a shoot-off to American Alisha Fayth Layne.

As for the men’s team, none of the three Indians Ayush Rudraju, Rajveer Gill, and Singh Sekhon could make it to the finals instead the Indian men’s team picks up a bronze medal in the tournament. India is currently in second place in the tournament with two gold three silver and two bronze with a total of seven medals as the USA tops the chart also with seven medals but winning three gold medals instead. This event is the First multi-disciple shooting event since the Tokyo Olympics with as many as 32 nations and nearly 370 players participating in the tournament.

The competition will continue on the next day with six finals in Air Rifle and Air Pistol team and the mixed team events will continue, As the tournament will be available for the viewers on the official ISSF internet sources.
