Indian Boxer Sarjubala Devi decides to enter the professional arena

Sarjubala Devi will be making her professional boxing debut in Dubai on February 26. Sarjubala who is a four-time national champion has represented India in many international tournaments and won medals in almost all the competitions that she was a part of.

India woman boxer, Sarjubala Devi has decided to be professional by signing a deal with leading Indian boxing promoter Mujtaba Kamal and Grassroot Boxing Promotions and Management in Imphal, Manipur.

She will be making her professional boxing debut in Dubai on February 26. Sarjubala who is a four-time national champion has represented India in many international tournaments and won medals in almost all the competitions that she was a part of.

The 28-year-old ranked second in 2014, in her weight category. Sarjubala is also a silver medallist in the 2014 AIBA World Boxing Championship in Korea and former Youth World Boxing gold medallist.

Currently, Mujtaba’s company manages some of the top Indian boxers like Sabari J (current WBC India Champion), Kartik S (WBC Asian silver winner), Faizan Anwar, Lalrinsanga Tlau (WBC youth world champion) etc.

Mujtaba said that he was happy to have another sensational boxing talent in his stable. He believes that today marks a significant day for our sports as Sarjubala Devi joins the professional ranks.

He further said that Sarjubala is one of the most recognized Indian women’s amateur boxers of all time and a public figure in Manipur.

Indian Boxing council president, Brigadier PK Muralidharan Raja said that Sarjubala is an outstanding boxer and it’s a great news for her and all the fans who followed her incredible career.

“Her career familial background are already an inspiration to young people in the state of Manipur and we’re very excited for her first professional fight in February 2022,” said Muralidharan to PTI.
