Indian archer Abhishek Verma bowed out of first-round of the World Cup Final

Abhishek Verma suffers a first-round defeat in the archery World Cup Finals qualification rounds by losing by just four points hence exiting the competition.

On Thursday, in the Archery World Cup finals qualification rounds, India’s Abhishek Verma had unfortunately lost to the silver medallist Braden Gellenthein of the United States of America in the first round of the World Cup Final held by a bigger margin. The Indian got to a relatively good start but the American later took over the lead and won the game comfortably, hence eliminating Abhishek Verma. He made a lot of errors as the wind didn’t give him any luck. In the year 2018 of the World Cup Finals, Abhishek Verma awarded India with a hard-fought bronze medal and also bagged a silver medal in a mixed pair event alongside Jyothi Surekha Vennam.

The 2014 gold medallist in the Asian Games who also qualified for the World Cup final in Paris, apparently took home a silver medal for his nation in the year 2015. The entire nation was very proud of his performance as he didn’t lose any confidence and kept his calm to make the nation proud.

The current World No four American had to do some catching up as he was behind by a majority number of points, but later he struck 10’s four times in a row leaving Verma to do some comeback before losing by just four points as the match ended 146-142 in favour of Braden Gellenthein.

Abhishek Verma showed some excellent performance with the arrow as he kept his eye on the target for a long time and also ahead of the world No 4 American was something that could have made him win. He got eliminated as he showed a good performance.
