Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar tests positive for COVID-19, doubtful for ODI series in SA

Washington Sundar was a part of the 18 member ODI squad series to play against South Africa but after being positive for COVID-19, his presence for the series seems doubtful.

Indian all-rounder, Washington Sundar’s participation in the ODI series against South Africa seems to be doubtful as the 22-year-old has tested positive for COVID-19. Sundar was chosen under the 18 member squad that was picked to play three-match series against South Africa starting from January 19.

“Sundar tested Positive for COVID-19 when he was in Bengaluru and could not join the team in Mumbai to leave for South Africa. The Indian white-ball unit will be leaving for South Africa on Monday evening from Mumbai,” BCCI sources said, reports PTI.

The ODI series that going to be played against South Africa will begin in Paarl on January 19. The Second ODI is also fixed on the same venue which will be played on January 21 and finally the team will travel to cape town to play their final match of the series.

Sundar was out from the International space due to the injury he got from the India tour of England last year. Nonetheless, he still played domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu and performed well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
