
The Indian star archers Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari lost their respective bronze medal matches as India shows poor performance and returning empty-handed from the world cup finals. With the absence of the Indian recurve coach, the couple struggled under cold and overcast conditions in the world cup finals. Atanu Das lost a bronze playoff to the reigning Olympic champion Mete Gazoz of turkey in a 6-0 set.
Making her eighth world cup finals appearance the world no. 2 Deepika kumari misfired a six to lose 5-6 in the shoot-off. Deepika who returned following her quarterfinal exit at the Tokyo games a perfect set of 30 eluded the Three-time Indian olympian as her German rival cruise to a 4-0 lead against her.
Michelle drilled a perfect score in the first two sets while the third was a tie with both the archer shooting 28-all. The german started to wobble in the fourth set t her narrow landing in the red circle as Deepika seized the opportunity to win the set by one point(28-27). Down 3-5 Deepika collected another 28 in make or break the fifth set to force a shoot-off. But in the shoot-off, Deepika faltered shooting wide in the blue ring and eventually losing to the german Michelle.
Das started very well with a 6-2 win over the german Maximilian Weckmueller but gone down to the USA’s world number 1 Brady Ellison in a 2-6 set.
