Golfer Avani Prasanth invited to take part in Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championships

Teenager Avani Prasanth has been invited to take part in Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championships in Georgia starting from March 30.

A teenage golfer, Avani Prashanth is invited to play at the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championships. The event will be held in Georgia, the USA at the Augusta National Golf Club beginning from March 30.

Avani Prashanth is all set to play at the hallowed golf course which has seen the likes of Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Phil Mickelson win on several events.

Avani said that she is honoured to get an invite to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championships. She is excited to compete against the best amateur golfers around the world. The tournament, a 54-hole stroke play event that consists of top 75 amateurs from all across the world, will start from March 30 to April 2.

The 15-year-old is the youngest India to qualify for the amateur treble-All India Juniors, All India Ladies amateur, and the Billoo Sethi Memorial. The one who wins the Tournament will receive invitations to the next five Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the 2022 Womens’ British Open, and the 2022 US Womens’ Open.

Avani Prashanth was also admitted to the Virat Kohli’s Foundation’s athlete development programme in 2019. She had also represented India at the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific championship at Abu Dhabi and finishes at T16. It is considered to be the best debut finish by an amateur from India.
