Golf: Johannes Veerman of America wins Czech Masters for the first time

This is Veerman’s first European Title as for his personal best he finished at third position in the Irish Open.

Johannes Veerman started playing golf at the age of 9 and won his first-ever European Title on Sunday as he closed with a 4-under 68 to grab the title. He managed to finish two strokes ahead of Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen and his fellow countrymen Sean Crocker for a 15 under a total of 273 at Albatross Golf Resort near Prague.

“It’s unbelievable. I mean, I played with two great players today, both of them played well the whole way, At one point there were four of us all tied for the lead and I just stuck to my game. I can’t believe I won. I’ll wake up tomorrow and then I’ll feel it.” were his words after winning his first title. His previous best was at Irish Open where he finished at the third spot.

He managed to recover from a Bogey on the second win with three birdies on the front nine after he started the round in the final group where he was competing with Henrik Stenson of Sweden, the former British Open Champion and Pulkanen and was just two strokes behind the leading Finn.

Even though Pulkamen was at a lead of four shots but dropped two shots with bogeys in the 8th and 10th. He got his lead back after a couple of birdies on 15th and 16th but managed to finish the round with a bogey and the double bogey in the final round and finished with 13 under 275 and settled for a tie at second position.
