Jehan Daruvala took the checkered flag in the Formula sprint race 2 in Monza, Italy. The Indian driver took his first win of the 2021 F2 season after starting on the front row at P2 along with David Beckmann of Campos Racing. Beckmann finished 10th in qualifying to put him on pole position in sprint race 1 (reverse grid order) that commenced earlier today. After a very disappointing start, the Campos driver fell to the middle of the pack and crossed the line at P10 to once again start on pole due to the reverse grid in sprint race 2.

Beckmann lost his lead to Daruvala early on but was able to defend the rest of the pack to hold his second place during the race. Beckmann’s efforts took a turn on the final lap as he locked up in turn 1 which opened the gap for the Robert Shwartzman of Prema and Liam Lawson of Hitech GP to overtake the German driver.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri fought hard against the 18-year-old sprint 1 race winner Theo Pourchaire. He was finally able to get past him during to race in hope of pulling away from his Championship rival Guanyu Zhou who took P2 in sprint race 1 to fall just 2 points short this afternoon.
The Renault Academy driver Guanyu Zhou was also given a tough time by Pourchaire as he used DRS advantage to get past the ART GP driver to claim the last points-scoring finish in the race at P8 while Piastri finished P7 as he is just 1 point ahead in the driver’s standings.
