Lewis Hamilton has now joined an unwanted and rare list in Ferrari’s Formula 1 history after being eliminated in Q1 for the second consecutive qualifying session. With today’s exit at the Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton becomes only the third Ferrari driver ever to suffer back-to-back Q1 knockouts.

The only other Ferrari drivers to share this record are:

  • Luca Badoer – 2009

  • Giancarlo Fisichella – 2009

  • Lewis Hamilton – 2025

The seven-time world champion’s struggles with Ferrari continue as he qualified P18, more than eight-tenths off George Russell’s Q1-topping time. Hamilton’s early elimination adds further pressure on the Scuderia, which has battled inconsistency throughout the season.
