Fabrizio Romano has dismissed growing speculation linking Diego Simeone with the Inter managerial job after a strong statement from club president Giuseppe Marotta.
Reports from Spain had claimed that Inter had already reached a pre-contract agreement with Diego Simeone, sparking widespread debate across European football. However, Marotta has categorically denied the claims, calling them “absolute fake news.”
Speaking via Romano’s official update, the Inter chief said: “Reports from Spain on a pre-contract agreed between us and Diego Simeone are absolute fake news. The story is not true at all. We are super happy with our coach Cristian Chivu.”
The statement puts an immediate end to rumours that Inter were planning a managerial change behind the scenes. Simeone, who has long been associated with Atlético Madrid, was linked with several top European clubs following mixed reports about his long-term future in Spain. Inter’s name quickly emerged as a possible destination, given their ambitions in Serie A and Europe.
