Chelsea-linked defender Mamadou Sarr has returned to Strasbourg, much to the delight of head coach Liam Rosenior, who has openly admitted he wanted the player at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking about Sarr’s situation, Rosenior said, “I’m happy Mamadou Sarr has come back. I wanted him at Chelsea,” highlighting how highly he rates the young centre-back’s ability and potential. Sarr, who is part of the BlueCo multi-club project involving Chelsea and Strasbourg, is expected to play a key role for the Ligue 1 side this season after his return.

The 21-year-old defender had been monitored closely by Chelsea following his impressive performances in France, but Strasbourg have managed to keep hold of him as they continue to build a competitive squad with a clear long-term vision.

Rosenior also praised another Chelsea-linked player, Aaron Anselmino, underlining the strong connection between the two clubs.
