Joan Laporta has suggested that keeping Barcelona’s key players at the club is just as important as making major signings, highlighting the club’s focus on contract renewals rather than expensive transfers.

Speaking in an interview with El Chiringuito, the FC Barcelona president addressed speculation about whether the club is planning to sign a big-name player in the near future. Laporta indicated that securing new deals for the team’s core players is currently a priority.

“In my view, getting new deals done with all our key players is like a new signing,” Laporta said, suggesting that maintaining squad stability can be as valuable as bringing in new talent.

The comments were highlighted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who shared the remarks on social media, fueling discussion among fans about Barcelona’s upcoming transfer strategy.

Barcelona have spent the past few seasons carefully managing their finances after facing well-documented economic challenges. As a result, the club has increasingly focused on contract extensions and building around its existing core rather than aggressively entering the transfer market.
