Atlético Madrid sporting director Mateu Alemany has firmly dismissed speculation linking Julián Alvarez with a move to FC Barcelona, insisting that no talks have taken place with the Catalan club or any of its presidential candidates.
Speaking amid growing rumours in Spain, Alemany made it clear that the Argentine forward remains fully committed to Atlético Madrid and is not the subject of any negotiations.
“He’s our player and we didn’t speak to any club,” Alemany said. “We didn’t speak to Barça about Julián. Not to candidates to be new president, or pre-candidates, no one.”
The comments come after reports suggested Barcelona were monitoring Alvarez’s situation and considering a potential move as part of their long-term attacking rebuild. However, Atlético have now publicly shut down those claims, underlining their intention to keep the World Cup winner at the club.
Julián Alvarez has been an important figure for Atlético this season, contributing with goals, assists, and relentless work rate in Diego Simeone’s system. His performances have naturally attracted interest from Europe’s biggest clubs, but Atlético view him as a key part of their sporting project moving forward.
