Manchester United could be set for a familiar face in the dugout following the shock sacking of Ruben Amorim on Tuesday. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be open to returning to Old Trafford in a caretaker role if the club decides to bring him back.

Amorim’s dismissal comes after a disappointing run of results that left the club struggling for consistency both domestically and in Europe. Despite high expectations following his appointment, United’s hierarchy reportedly felt a change was necessary to stabilise the season before further damage was done.

In the immediate aftermath of Amorim’s exit, attention has quickly turned to potential interim solutions. Romano reported that Solskjaer, who previously managed the Red Devils between 2018 and 2021, would be “happy to help” the club again if approached.

The Norwegian remains a popular figure among sections of the fanbase, having guided United to second place in the Premier League during the 2020–21 season and overseen a period of relative stability.
