Michael Carrick did not hold back after Manchester United suffered a 2-1 defeat against Leeds United, with the manager openly criticising a key refereeing decision that changed the game.

Speaking after the match, Carrick pointed to what he described as a worrying pattern. He said his side had now faced two games in a row where major calls went against them. His strongest reaction, however, was reserved for the second-half red card shown to Lisandro Martinez.

The defender was sent off following a challenge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Carrick called the decision “shocking” and went further by labelling it one of the worst he has seen in his professional career.

The moment proved decisive. At the time of the incident, United were still in the contest. Going down to ten men shifted momentum firmly in Leeds’ favour. United struggled to recover and eventually fell short despite a late push.

Casemiro once again delivered for United with a goal, continuing his strong run in front of goal. But his effort was not enough to rescue points on the night. Leeds capitalised on their advantage and managed the game well in the closing stages.
