Liverpool manager Arne Slot has made a stunning admission about the struggles of his debut season in England, describing it as the toughest campaign of his managerial career so far.

Speaking after another disappointing run of results, Slot revealed that he has never previously experienced back-to-back defeats in his career, a worrying statistic for a Liverpool side expected to challenge for major honours.

“This has so far been the toughest season for me as a manager by a mile,” Slot said.

“I’ve never previously lost two games in a row. It’s an exception for me and the players, they aren’t used to losing and drawing so much.”

The Dutch coach acknowledged that Liverpool’s standards have dropped significantly, particularly since the congested fixture schedule began to take its toll on his squad. While results have faltered, Slot insists there are signs of improvement beneath the surface.

“This season has been more challenging for me, but I also look at how much improvement we are making,” he added. “The main thing as a manager is results, but the next thing is seeing players improve.”

However, his comments are likely to raise eyebrows among supporters who are growing increasingly frustrated with Liverpool’s inconsistency.
