Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández has revealed his deep admiration for club legend Frank Lampard, admitting that he has been studying the former Blues captain’s game closely since arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Argentine international described Lampard as a major source of inspiration and a player he hopes to learn from as he continues to shape his own career in the Premier League.
“He’s an inspiration. I’ve watched a lot of videos of Frank since coming to Chelsea. I’ve seen how he got into those last metres of the pitch and how he got into the box,” Enzo said.
Lampard remains Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer, a rare feat for a midfielder, thanks to his intelligence, timing, and relentless movement into attacking areas. Enzo’s comments suggest he is eager to add those same qualities to his own game, becoming more influential in the final third rather than just controlling play from deep.
“He was an exceptional player and a legend here for Chelsea. I don’t like to be compared to him, because he has achieved a lot more here than I have. He’s an idol,” Enzo added.
