Arsenal’s bid to clinch the 2025-26 Premier League title suffered another damaging stumble on Wednesday as the Gunners blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 away at bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, handing bitter disappointment to supporters and breathing fresh life into Manchester City’s title pursuit.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring early, celebrating his new long-term contract with a composed finish, before Piero Hincapié doubled the lead early in the second half with his first Arsenal goal. At that point, Arsenal looked poised to extend their lead at the top of the table and tighten their grip on the Premier League crown.

However, Wolves fought back. Hugo Bueno’s spectacular strike on the hour mark brought the hosts into the contest, and deep in stoppage time 19-year-old debutant Tom Edozie stunned the Gunners with a dramatic equaliser after a defensive mix-up, sparking wild celebration at Molineux and deflating the league leaders.

The result means Arsenal have now dropped points from winning positions in successive games, leaving them just five points clear of City with a game more played. With Manchester City holding a game in hand, Pep Guardiola’s side now sense an opportunity to close the gap and exert more pressure in the title race.
