Manchester City and City Football Group have announced that Pep Guardiola will take on a new high-profile role as Global Ambassador following his departure from Manchester City at the end of the 2025/26 season.

In his new position, the 55-year-old Spaniard will provide technical advice across the City Football Group’s global network of clubs. He will work on special projects, coaching collaborations, and strategic football development initiatives.

A New Chapter with City Football Group

After 10 hugely successful years as Manchester City manager — during which he delivered 20 major trophies — Guardiola will not be stepping away from the CFG family entirely. Instead, he will continue contributing his football expertise on a global scale.

The City Football Group owns multiple clubs worldwide, including:

  • Manchester City (England)
  • New York City FC (USA)
  • Melbourne City (Australia)
  • Girona FC (Spain)
  • Yokohama F. Marinos (Japan)
  • And several others

Guardiola’s role will involve mentoring coaches, supporting talent development, and assisting with football strategy across these clubs.

Emotional Transition

The news comes shortly after the confirmation that Guardiola will leave his managerial position at Manchester City this summer. While fans were preparing for a full farewell, this new ambassadorial role offers a sense of continuity with the organisation that transformed both his and the club’s legacy.
