N’Golo Kanté could be on the move once again, with Fenerbahçe edging closer to an agreement with the French midfielder on personal terms. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, discussions between Kanté and the Turkish giants are “very close” following a positive meeting held on Tuesday.
The former Chelsea star, currently playing for Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, has emerged as a key target for Fenerbahçe as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season. Kanté’s camp is understood to be open to the move, and personal terms are nearing completion, although no final agreement has been signed yet.
However, the deal is not straightforward. Negotiations will now continue between Fenerbahçe and Al Ittihad, with the Saudi club insisting on a transfer fee. Romano clarified that there are currently no plans for a free exit, as Al Ittihad do not intend to release the World Cup winner without compensation. Additionally, the timing of the potential transfer has not been fully guaranteed at this stage.
Kanté joined Al Ittihad in 2023 on a lucrative contract after leaving Chelsea as a free agent. Despite injury concerns earlier in his Saudi stint, the experienced man remains a highly respected figure due to his experience and leadership qualities.
