Luis Enrique has issued a strong warning to his squad ahead of their upcoming clash against Liverpool at Anfield, calling the fixture a “trap match” despite holding an advantage from the first leg.
Speaking before the game, the Paris Saint-Germain head coach made it clear that the tie is far from decided. He stressed that recent success can quickly create a false sense of security if not handled carefully.
“For me, it’s a trap match tomorrow night,” Enrique said. His comments reflect caution rather than confidence, even after PSG secured a positive result in the first meeting.
The Spanish coach admitted that many believe PSG were the superior side in the opening leg. They won 2-0 at Paris, with dominating in both the halves of the game. However, he insisted that such opinions do not guarantee anything in football, especially in high-pressure European fixtures.
“We won the first match, everyone says we were superior. Maybe that’s true, but football moves fast,” he explained. Enrique underlined the importance of maintaining the same level of preparation and intensity heading into the return leg.
