FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has firmly dismissed criticism surrounding Robert Lewandowski, backing the veteran striker after his impressive performance in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg against Newcastle United.
Speaking after Barcelona’s dominant European outing, Flick responded sharply to suggestions that Lewandowski might be past his prime. “You said Lewandowski was maybe finished… no?” Flick remarked, before pointing to the striker’s latest match-winning contribution. “Well… he scored two goals again, in the Champions League.”
Lewandowski’s brace played a crucial role in Barcelona’s emphatic victory, once again underlining his enduring quality at the highest level. Despite ongoing debates about his age and consistency, the Polish forward continues to deliver when it matters most, particularly on the European stage.
Barca beat Newcastle by 7-2 which was a statement victory for them who were being mocked and questioned by the haters after their first leg performance at St. James Park. Though the first half saw amazing display of performance from both the sides, Barca took it all away from Newcastle in the second one.
