Bayern Munich has sent a clear message to Europe’s biggest clubs: Michael Olise is not for sale — at any price.

In a recent chat with Julian Buhl, legendary former Bayern player Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed why the German giants remain unmoved by massive transfer interest in their star winger, referencing a historic decision made over a decade ago involving Franck Ribéry.

The €200m Question: “There’s No Price Tag That Would Make Us Flinch”

When asked about hypothetical €200 million bids for Olise, Rummenigge stood firm, stating that for certain key players, money simply doesn’t matter.

He recalled a pivotal moment in 2009 when Chelsea made what would have been a world-record offer for Franck Ribéry. Rummenigge took the proposal to then-CFO Karl Hopfner and club icon Uli Hoeneß. After two hours of intense discussion, the trio reached a fundamental decision that still guides Bayern Munich today:

“In the future, we would never sell a player we would miss on the pitch.”

This unwritten rule remains in effect. Rummenigge added:

“This unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Olise, there’s no price tag that would make us flinch.”

The former Bayern CEO emphasized that having €200 million in the bank wouldn’t help the fans if the team played worse football without its star players. Fans come to the Allianz Arena to watch exciting attackers like Olise, not to see financial transactions.
