
World Junior Wrestling Championship 2021 is taking place in Russia and our juniors are making us proud as they successfully progressed into the Semifinals of the tournament. Though three other Indian wrestlers faced defeat at different stages of the tournament.
Balian attempted to be a part of the Senior Team in the 74kg category last year has easily grabbed the matches and thrashed away the rivals easily. He began his tournament by defeating Abubakr Shukurov of Tajikistan by technical superiority with the help of his two four-point throws. Baliyan then defeated Russia’s Alik Badteiv by 5-2 in the Quarterfinals. He will face Mohammad Ashghar who is representing Iran and is the former title holder of the Yasar Dogu event.
Whereas Deepak opened with a great victory by a score of 5-1 against Aliaskei Parkhomenka of Belarus and then continued with a victory of 9-4 against Georgia’s Luka Khutchua. Braxton James of America will be his opponent in Semifinal.
In the 57kg category, Shubham lost as it was no match for Ramazan Bagavudinov who is representing Russia as his technical acumen was at the display in the quarterfinal bout. Jaideep and Rohit who was representing India in 70kg and 65 kg categories respectively managed to win their opening bouts but both of them couldn’t manage to win against their Russian opponents in the quarterfinals.
