David Haye is set to appear in the boxing ring after 3 years

David Haye will fight Joe Fournier on the 11th of September. This will be Haye’s first fight since 2018

Three years after announcing his retirement, David Haye will return to fight Joe Fournier next month.

Haye has not competed in the ring since 2018. His last bout was against rival, Tony Bellew, who he lost to the second consecutive time. Since then, he has been managing former rival Derek Chisora.
But Haye was tempted to come back to the ring due to Joe Fournier. They are fighting at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, where they will compete for eight rounds on the 11th of September.

For the British boxer, Fournier is someone who has run his mouth challenging him. There are levels, which Fournier “crosses” and now he risks getting “flattened”. To the 40-year-old, “Champions” are not bought. Haye is a former WBA World Heavyweight Champion, beating Russian Nikolai Valuev for the title in 2009. Along with, he has been a cruiserweight champion, as well, beating Jean-Marc Mormeck. Haye retired with a 28-4 record.

Joe Fournier, nicknamed the Billionaire, made his money through nightclubs and the fitness industry. He started boxing professionally in 2015. He was encouraged by Haye himself to take up boxing and signed with his now opponent’s Hayemaker label.

Fournier, out of the boxing scene for five years, beat Reykon, the musician at the undercard of the Jake Paul – Ben Askren fight. He is confident that he will beat the former champion stating that Haye is ten years past his prime, and he is coming into his boxing prime. The 38 year acknowledges that it will be a hard challenge but he will prove a point on the 11th of September.

They will both clash on the undercard of Oscar De La Hoya’s return against former UFC champion Victor Belfort. Other bouts include former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Toto Ortiz facing each other. Andy Vences vs Jono Carroll will be the other well-known bout.
